The CDRC presents a number of dispute resolution trainings each year, ranging from 24- or 40-hour mediation courses to one- or two-hour continuing education sessions.
We will present a 24-hour training in basic mediation this spring, on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30, beginning April 10 and concluding May 15, and on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 to noon and 1:00 to 4:00. Designed to train community members who will join our volunteers who conduct mediations in Justice Court, this training will be presented at little or no charge for such community members. (Accordingly, no scholarships will be awarded for this training.) Details, including a course agenda, will be posted shortly.
The CDRC also will present a 40-hour course during business hours from Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 22. Details will be posted in the next several months.
The 40-hour mediation courses consist of 24 hours of class instruction on basic mediation, followed by 16 additional hours of training in advanced mediation, including family and/or workplace mediation. The CDRC’s courses are interactive and engaging with an emphasis on teaching practical skills for mediation. Graduates of these courses are qualified to join the pool of CDRC volunteers for our community.
The CDRC has a limited number of scholarships available for training courses. These scholarships reduce the investment for this valuable training significantly, and are based on both financial need and the attendee’s commitment to volunteer for the organization.
